The Handmade Simple Blue Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn presents an individualized ceramic art experience, with each piece reflecting the unique patterns and nuances of your loved one's life.
This is a handmade memorial, each urn crafted to order in the traditional Japanese Raku-fired ceramic art process by an accomplished ceramic artist in the U.S.A. Every urn will have a unique finish and look to it due to the nature of the raku ceramic production process. Pictured above in "Dolphin Blue" finish, you can see hints of blue color beneath the copper-colored "flashing". Most urns will display a variety of blue and copper tones, with swirls of other shades in between.
Raku ceramics are crafted in a unique process, resulting in one-of-a-kind designs that display incredible depth of beauty. Each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame as the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of raku. Thus, each of our Raku-fired funeral urns are one of a kind and completely unique in the particulars of the design. The urn you receive will look similar but different from the one pictured above.
