Our Story

Why was the website LovedOnesUrns.com created?

LovedOnesUrns came into being because we felt there was a way we could reach people, who need access to our products at a very difficult time of their lives in a more complete way. Our story goes back to 1976 when my elderly mother came to live with my family from Connecticut. She loved the southwest. She died very quickly after a long illness. She was very clear about her final wishes. She wanted cremation and to be taken back to the family cemetery plot with her husband and family members. I turned to the local funeral director for assistance. Cremation was all very new to me, as we were used to a more traditional way of saying goodbye. At the funeral home I viewed a few urns and chose one that I felt best suited my Mom. I knew nothing about urns or their cost. I happened to pick out one that was able to travel well in a funeral home to funeral home transfer across the country. It was shipped in a special manner after our family had held a formal memorial service at our local church. As I planned the memorial service, I was able to put a lot of creativity into it and that helped ease my grief and loss. Most services were still traditional in nature so I used tradition and my creativity to let the world know who and what my mother was about.

At LovedOnesUrns my husband and I feel there is a great need for products that need to be available for people to shop from their home in their time of grief and loss, at an extremely difficult time in their lives. Choosing an urn - a final tribute to your loved one or yourself if pre-planning is a very important and difficult process that will have lasting memories for years to come. I experienced this myself about 22 years ago when my mother passed away. My mother let us know her wishes so we followed them. The memorial service and dealing with the funeral home was all new to me - you can imagine the stress. I went by airlines to Connecticut to plan and carry out the memorial and graveside service there several weeks after the local service. Transform your sadness into something beautiful and soothing. You have lost a companion, but the love you shared is eternal. Some of our cremation keepsakes are an increasingly popular way to memorize a loved one.

I would have greatly benefited from all the information open to me today that there is on the internet - but that didn't exist as it now does. So we fast forward to current times, as my husband and I talked about how we would like things to happen for us, we found ourselves having to go from site to site to compare urns and supplies and discovered a whole new world has opened up to thousands of choices we did not know about. We decided it would be nice if everything was together and easy to compare on one site and not so confusing. So, we set out to do just that. When we put the word out, suppliers answered and artists who make one-of-a-kind artwork and help people keep close to their loved ones joined and help us. 18 different companies came with us with their goods and services and LovedOnesUrns was created. As a result we can help people who are hurting, needing products and services for almost any budget size from all parts of America and the world. These companies and artists have been helping people for years who share our passion to help people, and many give back to their communities and many other special causes. They are well versed in what they do, and have proven they do it well. LovedOnesUrns is able to supply all the major supplies needed for the 6 major ways cremated remains are commonly dealt with in today’s life style. Today Artists and cremation jewelry makers are helping people deal with their grief in new ways. Grief is an emotion we all have and is a hard emotion to deal with. It is good to have someone come along side you and extend a caring hand.

LovedOnesUrns also understands the close bond between people and their pets, pets truly do enrich people’s lives. Pets add so much love and companionship to our lives.  Pets too deserve to be remembered. Almost everyone has had a wonderful pet at some point in their lives. Most people look back at that as a beautiful experience. Loved OnesUrns has worked hard to bring you ways to now remember your cherished pets in ways that you find fitting and proper.

Cremation and memorial services have become more commonplace in our society. This is true for many different reasons and now there are so many choices that exist. Some come for lower prices to wanting to live a simpler life style. Some cemeteries in Europe and in American cities are simply running out of space. Religions are changing their views of cremation as a viable option and new options are opening up better choices. Today’s florists are creating better and more fitting floral arrangements to accommodate our beautiful urns. I urge you to bring out your creativity side in telling your loved ones story at their memorial service. Our artists provide options perhaps you never knew existed to help spark creativity you have deep inside yourself to tell your loved ones story. We are here for you.
