The Fern Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn is hand crafted in the USA using real fern leaves. Our ceramic artist individually hand makes each urn, which is impressed with actual fern leaves and covered with a crackle glaze and then Raku fired, resulting in a natural-looking and unique cremation urn for your loved one. Standard size shown.
In Raku firing each cremation urn is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of raku. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns are unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish. As these ceramic urns are generally made-to-order, please allow up to 3-6 weeks for your memorial urn to be crafted and shipped.
